Player of the Year Finals
The top 9 players, after the Presidents Cup, will compete in an 18-hole final to determine the Player of the Year.  The format will be stableford quota.  This event will run concurrently with Closing Day.  You will be able to compete in both events.

St.  Patrick’s Day 3 Club                  Saturday, March 16th
 
This is an 18-Hole, 3 player scramble played in sixsomes.  Each competitor may only use three clubs from their set and may not share their teammates’ clubs.  Members will create their own teams. 
 
Handicaps – Combined Team: A Player – 25%, B – 15%, C – 10%
Tiebreaker – Card match using USGA method of last 9, last 6, last 3 & last 1.

 

Opening Day Scramble                     Saturday, April 20th
 
This is an 18-hole, 4 player scramble.  Teams will be randomly drawn among four different handicap groups.  Each team will consist of an A, B, C, and D player.  This is a blind draw.
 
Handicaps – Combined Team: A Player – 25%, B – 20%, C – 15%, D – 10%
Tiebreaker – Card match using USGA method of last 9, last 6, last 3 & last 1.
 

The Memorial Member-Member    Saturday, May 18th – Sunday, May 19th
 
The first “Major” of the season is our Member/Member event.  This is a 36-hole, two-person team event.  Day one is a scramble format.  Day two is a better ball format.  There will be an optional Friday evening social event.  Lunch will be provided on Sunday.
 
Handicaps – Day One – Combined Team Hdcp: A Player – 35%, B – 15%.  Day Two – 85%.
Tiebreaker – Gross & Net divisions will play a sudden death playoff playing best ball.
The Stoneleigh Shamble                   Saturday, June 22nd
 
This is an 18-hole, 4 player shamble event.  All team members will hit a drive.  The best drive is selected, then each player plays their own ball into the hole from that spot.  On holes 1-6, one best ball will be counted.  On holes 7-12, two best balls will be counted.  On holes 13-18, three best balls will be counted.  Members will create their own teams.  There will be one gross prize. 
 
Handicaps – A Player – 100%, B – 90%, C – 80%, D – 70%
Tiebreaker – Sudden death playoff
 
The Stoneleigh Cup                          Saturday, July 27th – Sunday, July 28th
 
This is the second “Major” of the season.  This is a 36-hole, individual stroke play event.  Players competing from different tees will be divided into separate flights.  Lunch will be provided on Sunday.
 
Handicaps – 95%
Tiebreaker – Sudden death playoff for gross and net overall champion.
 
The Stoneleigh Shootout                   Saturday, August 17th
 
This is an 18-hole, individual stroke play event.  The three low gross scores and the seven low net scores will qualify for a sudden death, net shoot-out on holes 10, 16, 17, & 18. 
 
Handicaps – 95%
 
The Club Championships                Saturday, September 21st – Sunday, September 22nd
 
 Men’s Championship Flight:
 
This is the third “Major” of the season.  The #1 seed will be reserved for the defending champion, Steve Pierce.  The top fourteen entries, based on handicap, will be seeded 2 - 15.  Anyone else wishing to play in the Championship flight will have to complete a qualifying round for the final spot. 
 
 
 Men’s Net Flights:
 
Competitors will be seeded by their USGA handicap index into flights of eight.  Each flight will play 18-hole matches to determine a champion.  All matches will be stroked off the low handicap within the flight. 
 
Ladies’ Club Championship:
 
Competitors will play an 18-hole stroke play qualifying round.  The top two gross scores will play an 18-hole match to determine the Ladies’ Club Champion.  The top two net scores will play an 18-hole match to determine the Ladies’ Net Club Champion.  The defending champion is Kelly Cooper.
 
Lunch will be provided after the first round on Saturday.
 
Handicaps – Gold Flight is played at gross.  All other flights will stroke off the low ball at 100%.
 
The Presidents Cup                        Saturday, October 5th – Sunday, October 6th
 
This is the final “Major” of the season.  Competitors will be divided into two teams at a draft party by two member captains.  The Match will be divided into three Sessions:  Sessions #1 and #2 will be played on Saturday and Session #3 will be played on Sunday.  Session #1 will be 9-hole foursomes matches.  Session #2 will be 9-hole four-ball matches. Session #3 will be 18-hole singles matches.  The team accumulating the most points will be the champion.
 
Handicaps – Best Ball 90% - Scramble Combined A – 35% & B – 15%.  Individual 100%.
Tiebreaker – Captains will select a team member to play in a sudden death shootout.
Closing Day                                     Saturday, October 26th
 
This is an 18-hole, two best balls of four, net Stableford event.  Teams will be randomly drawn among four different handicap groups.  Each team will consist of an A, B, C, and D player.
 
Handicaps – 85%
Tiebreaker – Card match using USGA method of last 9, last 6, last 3 & last 1.
 

Non-ATEF Events

Benning Cup                                     Begins April 3rd
 
This is a season long, 18-hole match play event.  Each competitor will be seeded randomly in a bracket.  Everyone will play one match per month until a champion is crowned.  Each match will be stroked off the low handicap based on the first of the month handicap index.
 
Spring One Day Member Guest     Thursday, May 9th
 
This is an 18-hole, two player best ball event. Each team must consist of one golf member and their guest.  Low gross and low net prizes will be awarded.  Lunch and dinner included.    
 
Member – Guest                              Thursday, May 30th - Saturday, June 1st
 
This is a 45 hole, four-ball match play event.  Each team is grouped, based on team handicap, in flights of six.  Each team will play five, 9-hole matches against each team in their flight.  The team with the most points, unless a team is undefeated, will be the flight champion.  Flight champions will compete in a sudden death shootout to determine the overall champion.  The defending champions are Steve Pierce and Paul Pierce.
 
Family Championship                     Saturday, June 15th
 
This is an 18-hole, two player modified alternate shot event.  There will be a competitive flight and a “Family Fun” flight.  Family members who are not members are invited to play.
Senior Club Championship            Saturday, June 29th – Sunday, June 30th
 
This is a 36-hole, individual stroke play event.
 
Flag Tournament                              Thursday, July 4th
Couples Championship                   Saturday, August 10th
 
This is a two-person, 18 hole Pinehurst format.  Each player will hit a drive, then switch and play their partners drive, then choose one and play alternate shot until the ball is holed.  Each couple must consist of two members listed as the primary and secondary member of the same membership. 
 
Labor Day Ringer                           Saturday, August 31st – Monday, September 2nd
 
This is a 36-hole, individual best ball event.  Over three days, each competitor will play two 18-hole rounds.  Using each round’s scores, the competitor will select their best daily score, on each hole, to create one 18-hole score.

Western Loudoun Cup                   Sunday, September 15th
 
This is an 18-hole, team event.  A team from Stoneleigh will compete against a team from Loudoun Golf & Country Club. 

Fall One Day Member Guest          Thursday, October 17th
 
This is an 18-hole, two player event.  The format includes six holes each of alternate shot, scramble and best ball.  Each team must consist of one golf member and their guest.  Low gross and low net prizes will be awarded.  Lunch and dinner included.
 
Turkey Shoot                                   Friday, November 29th
 
This is an 18-hole, 4 player scramble.  Teams will be randomly drawn among four different handicap groups.  Each team will consist of an A, B, C, and D player.
 
Couples Golf            Dates Available on Club Calendar
 
Couples Golf will be held throughout the golfing season.  Three couples (sixsomes) make up each team.  This event is 9-hole, alternate shot scramble.  You may sign up as one couple and we will pair you up or sign up as a full team.  Couples Golf will generally begin in the late afternoon with a shotgun start, followed by dinner in the Tavern.
 
Family Golf                                      Dates Available on Club Calendar
 
Family Golf will be held bi-monthly throughout the golf season.  Each family will play a nine hole, modified scramble format.  Families with only two players will be paired up with another family.  Family Golf will begin in the late afternoon with a shotgun start, followed by dinner.
